Critics Consensus

Marvelously orchestrated by director Robert Eggers, Nosferatu is a behemoth of a horror film that is equal parts repulsive and seductive.

Danny Leigh Financial Times The film is fine — an artisanal horror made with care and invention. But... what sticks is the Gothic high style: queasy lamplight, small coffins, imperious doctors. All good things in context — but side plates in need of a dripping, rare main course.? Rated: 3/5 Jan 15, 2025 Full Review Mark Kermode Kermode and Mayo's Take (YouTube) This is much more of a romp than I had expected. Jan 14, 2025 Full Review Adam Kempenaar Filmspotting ...most entrancing early on during its ominous, dread-soaked set pieces. Rated: 3/5 Jan 12, 2025 Full Review Sarah Gopaul Digital Journal ‘Nosferatu’ is an impressive adaptation that uses dramatic cinematography to generate an intensely striking Gothic horror picture. Jan 20, 2025 Full Review Cole Smithey ColeSmithey.com I suppose this film's tag line, "Succumb to the Darkness" is an apt sentiment in the age of global warming and yet another Trump era. This vampire movie is perfectly watchable; you may feel inclined to nap during it. Don't worry, you won't miss much. Rated: TWO STARS Jan 19, 2025 Full Review Sean P. Means The Movie Cricket The surprising wrinkle is how, even with Skarsgard’s monster makeup, the movie conveys a raw erotic energy under the period horror trappings. Grace The proper way to go about making a vampire movie! So amazing and definitely includes a lot of good horror that I haven't seen from a film in a while! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/21/25 Full Review Tamara Well it was almost like the 30's thrillers...but just fell flat, I wasn't sure whether to laugh or cry Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/21/25 Full Review Meir they did a great remake of a classic that can not be done. I liked the beginning, but then it became the typical vampire scrpit. I loved the costumes. In my own opinion, if they made it a silent film, with the footage, I would love it. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/21/25 Full Review Lolly M was a liittle slow but the the cinematography and costumes made it so immersive..the acting was good. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/20/25 Full Review Wanda Atmosphere, acting and story all excellent. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/20/25 Full Review Batman Wow, how bad. I cannot believe the positive reviews I've seen. This movie was excessive in its gore, almost to the point of being just silly. It was excessively long but never took the time to develop the backstory or characters. We saw multiple leave the theater but decided that staying to the bitter end was a quest. To the end we did in fact make it, but not without pain. Awful. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/20/25 Full Review Read all reviews
