David Bianculli NPR Sally Bradford McKenna and Nahnatchka Khan developed "Laid" for American TV and wrote the teleplay for the pilot, which Khan directed. Their sensibility is witty, wild and supremely confident. They give their star the latitude to roam freely. Jan 9, 2025 Full Review Craig Mathieson The Age (Australia) A little filthy, quite frank -- Laid kept making me laugh in unexpected ways. Rated: 3.5/5 Jan 3, 2025 Full Review Daniel Fienberg The Hollywood Reporter Hsu infuses a lot of emotion into the tight comic dialogue, while Mamet remains an actress capable of elevating the most basic of punchlines. Dec 23, 2024 Full Review Kristen Maldonado Pop Culture Planet [A] bold performance by Hsu. She has you rooting for her despite the consistent mistakes she makes, while Mamet is a stand out as her supportive and hilarious best friend. There are tons of exciting cameos and the script is full of funny and niche jokes. Jan 17, 2025 Full Review Weiting Liu Common Sense Media The series' tricky and controversial premise wouldn't work so well if not for Hsu's wide emotional range, from struggles with conflicted feelings to brave embraces of identities and regrets. Dec 25, 2024 Full Review Joel Keller Decider Stephanie Hsu’s dynamic lead performance is the main attraction of Laid, but the quest to figure out why Ruby’s lovers are dying and what this all means to her romantic life will be a funny and interesting journey to take with her. Audience Member Peacock shows kinda suck. Have not found one great show on Peacock. Stephanie Hsu is okay in this comedy but the plot is just lame. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/19/25 Full Review George C Not as good as I was hoping, has some funny lines, but I have caught my self skipping scenes because they are just bad. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/15/25 Full Review Michael M One of the best comedies of recent years. No series is perfect, but this one, with such an original, crazy premise and incandescent Stephanie Hsu as the star — loved every minute. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/12/25 Full Review deanna c Omg, this is the funniest show I've seen in a while. It's sexy and mysterious. I would've never guessed the ending/last episode. Please make a season 2!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/11/25 Full Review Tim S This show has horrible acting and somehow is worse than the title makes you think it will be. Tried this show because I couldn't believe the trailer was accurate, not only accurate but this shows main character is not someone anyone should look up to you or listen to in any way. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/06/25 Full Review Andrei D Most jokes don't fully land and the action moves too fast as it approaches an unsatisfying ending Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/04/25 Full Review Read all reviews
