A young chef from the fine dining world comes home to Chicago to run his family sandwich shop after a heartbreaking death in his family. A world away from what he's used to, Carmy must balance the soul-crushing realities of small business ownership, his strong-willed and recalcitrant kitchen staff and his strained familial relationships, all while grappling with the impact of his brother's suicide. As Carmy fights to transform both the shop and himself, he works alongside a rough-around-the-edges kitchen crew that ultimately reveals itself as his chosen family.

Lauren Sarner New York Post Despite its flaws in narrative focus — or lack thereof — “The Bear” remains an emotional show filled with top performances. Jan 4, 2025 Full Review David Bianculli NPR It's the best food-oriented TV series since Julia Child's "The French Chef." And Christopher Storer and his other writers and directors present montages of food preparation that are beautiful, exotic and mesmerizing all at once. Jul 25, 2024 Full Review Sophie Gilbert The Atlantic The Bear is still extraordinarily artful... But the show also appears less interested in telling a story than in offering an immersive trip for viewers into the recesses and faulty wiring of Carmy’s brain. Jul 15, 2024 Full Review Tatat Bunnag Bangkok Post The show's signature blend of chaotic kitchen drama and introspective character arcs remains as compelling as ever. Dec 23, 2024 Full Review Laura Fernández El Pais (Spain) What Christopher Storer and his sister Courtney continue to do with The Bear —whose third season has just landed and is consumed at breakneck speed because it only gets better: the rise is meteoric and unstoppable— is history. [Full review in Spanish] Aug 30, 2024 Full Review Tara Ariano Cracked While the tragedy that catalyzes the plot of The Bear has been text since the first season, that tragedy has steadily crept out of the deep background and now lives in the middle of practically every frame, crowding the comedy out in the process. Marlon B Hopes we’re high in season 1. Really liked it. S02 not at all. What’s with the cheesy annoying love story, and every character has it own not always interesting plot. A lot of one liners.. is this even made by the same people? Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/19/25 Full Review Matheus F This series is not a comedy! It's not a comedy. Mediocre critics will say that all genres must be Drama to be a good movie or a good series. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/12/25 Full Review Skrot N The first 2 seasons were really great. Kudos to the team. But they must have been charitable and allowed some high schoolers to write and direct the last season. It stank to high heaven. Aimless , pretentious nonsense. Carmy is the only interesting character in this show. As soon as it's about one of the side characters it's a complete snooze fest. A whole episode about the lady going into labour? That was excruciating and then you had to bring Jamie Lee Curtis back as an emotionally unstable psycho. Complete turn off. The Xmas episode was sufficient. Sydney comes across a moody teenager most of the time. Very one dimensional. Season 3.Gosh. How to make a pigs ear out of a great recipie. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/10/25 Full Review J C The first two seasons were great we could not stop watching the show. Now in season 3 the first episode was senseless and meaningless for the viewer. The commentary in my household used to describe the episode was simply, “Stupid”. Thinking that was just a lame beginning we watched the second episode and found our selves even more disappointed. So much so that we are not sure we will bother watching it again. The production team on this season missed the mark and should consider other employment. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/06/25 Full Review Ahmer N Still fantastic but lacking a hall-of-fame episode Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/02/25 Full Review Tom F Continuing from season two as one of the very best shows on TV. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 12/31/24 Full Review Read all reviews
